Cameron Wows at the Riviera

Maverick organist Cameron Carpenter gave an impressive and well-received performance Sunday afternoon at the Riviera Theatre. Cameron's skill was apparent from the very first note, and he performed a variety of classical pieces, many of which aren't typically associated with the organ, including the Gershwin medley that closed the show. After the performance, VIP ticket holders attended a reception where they were able to speak to Cameron and enjoy wine and hors d'ouevres. During the show Cameron noted that the fight against HIV and AIDS is a cause close to his heart, and the performance was a benefit for AIDS Community Services. Thank you Cameron, the Riviera Theatre, media sponsor WBFO and everyone who attended this special performance! Note: I had trouble editing the video, so it's kind of choppy.

Updates!

There's a lot going on at AIDS Community Services these days! Buffalo Wings Kat and Joe are back safe and sound (and sore) from the Empire State AIDS Ride. They rode from Niagara Falls to New York City - 560 miles - in just one week to raise money and awareness for the fight against AIDS. Great job Kat and Joe! The new issue of Pathways will hit mailboxes any day now. If you're not on the Pathways mailing list and would like to be, e-mail me at jcarocci@aidscommunityservices.com and I'll make sure you receive future issues. The new Women's Wine Club is a huge success. Women from all over Western New York are enjoying fine wines and delicious gourmet food at the Stillwater on the first Tuesday of each month and the Verbena Grill on the second Tuesday of each month. WBFO and ACS are teaming up to present organist Cameron Carpenter live at the Riviera Theatre on Sunday, October 4. Visit www.rivieratheatre.org to get your tickets! The Evergreen Center's Testing on Tuesday program offers convenient evening hours for rapid HIV testing - it's free and you get your results in just 10 minutes! For more information on any of these events, programs and services, visit our website at www.aidscommunityservices.com.

AIDS Ride Update

Alianza Latina staff has been getting regular updates from Kat Boger on the Empire State AIDS Ride. Here's the summary: it's hotter than blazes, but Kat is riding strong. No surprises on either count! Tuesday was "red dress, blonde hair or red hat day" but we decided it was best not to ask for details. We'll keep you posted as updates come in.
